Roasted Walnuts!

We all know that #Walnuts are precious for our health, being a source of energy, antioxidants and vitamins. They come with a set of benefits like:

  • Prevent the onset of stroke
  • Reduce the risk of diabetes.
  • Increasing male fertility.
  • Improves stomach and intestine diseases: ulcers, diarrhoea, constipation.
  • Reduce cholesterol.
  • It’s a good source of fat.
  • Longer life – Improves skin quality and helps create healthy cells, constantly regenerating the body!
  • Protects the health of bones and teeth.

How should we consume them?

I suppose you already know that it is not recommended to consume raw nuts because they contain on their surface enzymes that protect them and which block our digestive enzymes and thus digest very hard! It is best to soak them in the water, we can leave them in the water for overnight because they need a longer hydration time.

Another possibility is to eat them roasted! I recently watched a documentary and learned that if we roast the right nuts we can benefit from all their properties!

  • On the stove:

Put a frying pan on the stove on medium heat. When it’s hot, put the walnuts and mix them continuously. Keep them on the fire for about 5 minutes, while they should crack. Very important: do not put oil / butter and do not cover them for as long as they are done.

  • In the oven:

Preheat the oven at 190 degrees Celsius. Spread the walnuts on a baking sheet and let them stand for 5-10 minutes until they get a brown colour.

So simple to roast them, and the intense flavour you get is worth the effort! I tell you from my own experience … the taste and smell of fresh fried nuts do not compare to anything!

Attention! Do not buy nuts fried in oil, they are carcinogenic and will not bring any benefits!
